The work

E3 is focussed on empowering grassroots congregations to share the love of Christ in word and deed with those around them.

Local churches are well placed to understand people's needs and offer long-term sustainable solutions for their communities. In the midst of devastation and despair, they are transforming lives and bringing hope for today, tomorrow and eternity.

For many of our partners, helping people affected by HIV is one of the most pressing needs. HIV has been described as the greatest public health disaster in recorded history. More than 42 million people worldwide have been infected. By the end of this decade the figure will have more than doubled to 87 million people. Local churches are playing a central role in providing practical, emotional and spiritual support to those affected by HIV and AIDS.

Our partners are involved in:

  • the care of orphans and vulnerable children
  • prevention and education in schools and the wider community
  • home-based care for those who are ill
  • support groups to help HIV-positive people to cope with their situation and support and encourage each other
  • poverty alleviation and micro-enterprise schemes.

The EngageHIV programme currently works with 9 partner projects in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Malawi.
